Facial rejuvenation is so much more than just a facelift, and when done correctly, facial rejuvenation focuses on facial harmony

Change is inevitable, and that goes for our skin too. As we age, our skin changes, and this is typically the first and most visible sign of aging. Over time, changes underneath the skin lead to changes seen outside the skin. Underneath our skin, we lose fat in our cheeks, temples, chin, nose and eye area as we get older. This may result in loosening skin, sunken eyes and a “skeletal” appearance. Bone loss may become evident after age 50 and cause slack skin and puckering of the skin around your mouth. Cartilage loss in the nose causes drooping of the nasal tip and makes the bony structures in the nose easier to see. How our skin ages also depends on many factors like lifestyle, diet, heredity, personal habits and skin care routine. Prolonged sun exposure also damages skin due to UV light damaging elastin fibers. Therefore, as we age our approach to skin care needs to change.

Today facial rejuvenation can be achieved with non-surgical methods utilizing the latest therapies in aesthetics and proper at home skin care. One of the newest minimally invasive injectable treatments that can offset age-related volume loss and obscure the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in treated areas of the face, neck and decollete are biostimulators like platelet rich plasma (PRP) and platelet rich fibrin (PRF). PRP and PRF are alternatives to traditional hyaluronic acid facial fillers, because they promote the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin over a period of several months to provide a more natural rejuvenated and refreshed appearance. The PRP and PRF treatments are made by drawing a small amount of the patient’s own blood, and then spinning it in a centrifuge to concentrate platelets, stem cells and immune cells that are then injected back into the skin to stimulate collagen production and tissue regeneration. Since the treatments use material from the patient’s own body, there is no risk of rejection or similar complications.

At Solis Health and Beauty, we use the Executive Series Centrifuge II® that is an FDA cleared, class II device, uniquely designed to maximize platelet recovery. Not all PRP/PRF is created equal, depending on the device and collection system used, which can compromise the desired aesthetic result. The Emcyte system uses soft and hard centrifugation to isolate regenerative cells from the blood in a proprietary closed system. The collection system not only limits exposure of your blood to outside air and potential contaminants, but also results in a much higher concentration of platelets compared to other PRP/PRF treatments due to the specially designed collection tubes and double centrifuge. This hospital grade centrifuge can also be used to concentrate bone marrow and adipose tissue in addition to platelets. The centrifuge and collection devices used by many offices do meet these standards.

What You Need to Know

With each consultation, patients will also receive recommendations for a personalized at home skin care regimen to maximize results. From our medical grade skin care products to customized compounded skin care prescriptions, patients will receive high quality treatments and advice, whether receiving a facial or injectable aesthetic procedure. Illari Skin® is a leader in skin care with products backed by science and medically proven to work. The difference in over the counter skin care from department stores and drug stores versus medical grade skin care lies in the ingredients and research. Medical grade skin care products must have clinical research studies to back up any claims about their benefits. They are also FDA regulated and required to have ingredients that are 99.9% pure with minimal fillers, so they are more potent. Over the counter products cost less but in turn have lower quality, unrefined raw product ingredients with more fillers, which in turn sacrifices how effective the skin care product really is. At Solis Health and Beauty, we want the best for our patients, and work with you to achieve an optimal aesthetic result.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not everyone is a candidate for PRP/PRF treatments. If you are on blood thinners, have cancer or underlying infections like HIV or Hepatitis C, or have a condition called thrombocytopenia (low platelet count), then PRP/PRF is not right for you. There may be other reasons why PRP/PRF may not be right for you, which is why we suggest a consultation with our board certified medical provider.

PRP and PRF can improve the appearance of skin and address: wrinkles, facial creases, acne scars, sagging skin, uneven complexions, hair loss and more.

There can be minimal discomfort with the blood draw, and then depending on how the PRP/PRF is delivered, whether injected or microneedled into the skin, a topical anesthetic can be applied to minimize discomfort.

Depending on the application, and size of the treatment area, a session can take anywhere from one to two hours.

That depends on the starting condition of the skin and the desired results, but typically anywhere from 3-5 sessions. Results can then last 1-2 years, or more depending on the at home skin care regimen and if a yearly maintenance session is then completed.

No, PRP and PRF can be used on any skin type and color, from light to dark.
